Pierre – Martin Moulin

Tarptautinės policijos asociacijos prezidentas

INTERNATIONAL POLICE ASSOCIATION – OFFICIAL STATEMENT

Friendship has to be…

„Friendship has to be, otherwise there will be no future for Mankind”

The words of our founder Arthur Troop take a very important meaning, while witnessing what happened these last days in France and elsewhere in the world.

We, members of the International Police Association, the world’s largest police association with 420’000 members in more than 100 countries, are committed to the fundamental principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Without distinction as to rank/position, sex, race, colour, language or religion, we seek to foster mutual help and understanding, to contribute, within the limits of our possibilities, to peaceful co-existence between people and to the preservation of world peace.

We all are therefore especially saddened by the brutality of the acts perpetrated in Paris which violated to such an extreme degree the constitutional rights and the democratic values of freedom.

The State is the guarantor of the freedom of individuals, in accordance with the standards that enable peaceful co-existence. As police officers, we serve and represent such a State by protecting this freedom.

Any person pointing his gun and killing a policeman undermines the State and the basic social values that we guarantee by our daily work.

On behalf of all members of the IPA, we appeal to our authorities and all citizens, so that recent events do not cause an increase of hatred and xenophobia but reinforce the defence of constitutional rights and democratic values. Let us come together and use the cement of friendship to put all our bricks together in order to build an inspiring tower of hope.

Today, grief affects us all because every life of a policeman taken in the line of duty represents as many values and rights violated.

On behalf of the International Police Association, under the flag of friendship and our motto „Servo per Amikeco”, we offer our deepest condolences primarily to families torn apart by these events, but also to all our fellow officers worldwide.
